Are you heading downtown for a show at the Akron Civic Theatre, a game at Canal

Are you heading downtown for a show at the Akron Civic Theatre, a game at Canal Park or a visit to Lock 3? Looking for the best places to park and the restaurant options to make it a night out?

We have some suggestions.

If pub grub is your scene, Akronym is for you. The menu features sandwiches, including a Cuban and Reuben, along the appetizers and snacks. Of course, Akronym offers beer, with more than a dozen of its own brews on tap.

Location: 58 E Market St.

Located across the street from Lock 3, Baxter's Bar offers a selection of bar offerings including subs, sandwiches, burgers and more. They also have a patio area for outdoor dining.

Location: 205 S. Main St.

Barley House Akron features traditional American cuisine, with over 30 craft beers on tap and more than 30 televisions to watch your favorite sports teams.

Location: 222 S Main St.

Seafood is on the menu at Boiling House, including it namesake boils, fried fish and sushi.

Location: 1 W. Exchange St.

Cilantro Thai & Sushi features classic Thai, Japanese and Asian food, along with an extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu. Check out our review of Cilantro here.

Now in its new location, Crave features a number of familiar favorites and entrees that are mostly new. New entrees include a duck dish with breast and leg of duck confit with macadamia nut rice, foie gras mousse, goat cheese, balsamic strawberries, pomegranate molasses and smoked honeycomb.

Inspired by tequila, El Patron is a place where a different take on Mexican culture and cuisine is showcased. The menu features street tacos, burritos and more, while the drinks menu offers margaritas and tequila cocktails.

In the mood for a burger or pizza? Try R. Shea. The menu features salads, a dozen burger and sandwich options, and a half-dozen or more pizza. The brewery also offers more than a dozen of its own beers on tap.

A family friendly Italian-American restaurant, Spaghetti Warehouse features classic pasta dishes, pizza and Italian sandwiches, as well as specialties such as 15-layer lasagna and chicken parmesan.

Customize your pizza however you want it at Twisted Tomato. Options include spicy sauces and premium toppings such as steak and shrimp. The menu also includes calzones and sandwiches, and the beer wall features 36 options.

If you're craving a gourmet grilled cheese, The Lockview is your restaurant. The menu features 15 different varieties of grilled cheese, along with salads and other sandwiches. The drinks menu features 12 rotating draft choices, along with wine, cocktails and bottles of beer.

Akron has more than 10 parking lots and 10 parking garages with spaces for more than 10,000 vehicles in downtown Akron. There are more than 1,100 metered parking spaces throughout downtown Akron. Pay at the meters Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. with credit card, coins, or payment through the Flowbird app.
