While the racers will be taking a break from sailing that doesn't mean nothing is happening this week. There are plenty of events taking place during the eight-day stopover and we've got a look at nine you shouldn't miss.
One of those big events is the in-port racing that will take place later in the week. With points on the line to help determine the standings boats will be flying in Narragansett Bay. From land or sea, we've rounded up some of the best places to watch.
These aren't the sailboats you see gliding along Narragansett Bay on a sun-filled weekend. These boats are fast and are capable of racing up to 600 miles in a single day. We break down what makes them so unique.
Did you know the 11th Hour Racing Team is based out of Newport and has ties to one of Google's co-founders? Here's a look at everything you need to know about 11th Hour.
While practicing in Newport last summer, The Daily News' Zane Wolfang joined the 11th Hour team to get a feel for what happens when the boats are on the water. Take a look at that experience.
More than 130,000 people visited Fort Adams during The Ocean Race stopover in 2015 and organizers have high hopes for this year's events and the impact it will have in Newport.
