GALILEE BOAT RAMP IMPROVEMENTSThe newly reconstructed Galilee boat ramp opened in the summer of 2014 and is now universally accessible and features a double-lane system and added floats for increased efficiency and ease of use.
GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. was contracted to design and present coastal resiliency strategies for the popular boating and fishing access site in Charlestown. A grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's National Coastal Resiliency Fund (NFWF-NCRF) provided funding for this phase of work, along with state funds from saltwater fishing license receipts. RI DEM was recently awarded additional NFWF-NCRF funding to continue with the design and permitting for coastal resiliency projects at both Quonochontaug Breachway and Gull Cove.
