The Tata Punch is currently the second most popular model in Tata Motors’ India lineup. Despite being on the market for many years, the model still manages to capture a large chunk of sales. Currently, the model is available with only a single petrol powertrain option. Considering the growth of electric cars from the company, it makes perfect sense for the top Indian carmaker to introduce an electric vehicle (EV) iteration of the Punch. It is highly likely that the model will be unveiled this year. If you are wondering what the Punch EV could look like in the near future, there is a render available for the forthcoming model.
The rendering of the Tata Punch EV has been shared on Instagram by exoticcars238 on their page. From the picture, we can see that the Punch EV will most likely retain the same exterior design as the internal combustion engine (ICE) Punch, with some design changes to differentiate it from the outgoing model. At the front, the Punch EV will feature a closed-off grille, as EVs do not have a radiator like traditional cars. This design change offers a more futuristic appearance and a clean look.
Next, the LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on the split headlamp design have also been changed to a continuous one, spanning from one end to the other. Speaking of the split headlamps, the main headlamp unit in the render is more squarish than the outgoing model, and the front bumper has also been revised. These same front changes might soon be featured in the upcoming ICE Punch facelift as well. Meanwhile, apart from the front fascia, not much has been changed on the sides of the rendered Punch EV. Most likely, the company will keep the design the same to save costs, but they will add a few EV insignias to differentiate it from the ICE car.

As of yet, there are no details about the powertrain specifications of the forthcoming Tata Punch EV. However, we can expect that the company will offer it with its Ziptron technology, which also powers the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV. There are multiple battery packs available that deliver different ranges. For the recently launched Tiago EV, the company offers the hatchback with a 24 kWh battery pack that delivers a MIDC-certified range of 315 km. Additionally, there is a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack available, which provides a MIDC-certified range of 250 km. Most likely, these numbers will be retained by the Tata Punch EV as well.
The Tata Punch EV could also feature different drive modes such as City and Sport. There might also be different regeneration levels that can increase the range. Most likely, the company will also offer the EV micro SUV with telematics through Z-Connect. The Tiago EV currently offers more than 65 features, including remote AC on/off, remote geo-fencing, real-time charging status, smartwatch connectivity, and more. Tata may also offer leatherette seats, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, auto-headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cruise control, and more. Additionally, the top-end variant of the car could be equipped with as many as eight speakers.
