2023 Queensland Oaks field and barrier draw

Golden Slipper winning filly Fireburn will need to offset a tricky barrier if she's to join an elite club in Saturday's $700,000 Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Eagle Farm.

The daughter of Rebel Dane is attempting to emulate trainer Gary Portelli's other Slipper winner, She Will Reign in becoming a three-year-old Group 1 winner.

She Will Reign achieved the feat in 2017 when taking out the Moir Stakes while the only other Golden Slipper-winning filly to train on and win at Oaks at three this century was Miss Finland, who won the VRC Oaks in 2006.

Fireburn, won her first race at three at her most recent start in the Doomben Roses and she's drawn barrier 16 for her quest for a third Group 1 success.

The other Group 1 winner in the field is Australasian Oaks victor Affaire A Suivre for this year's two-time Group 1-winning trainer/jockey combination of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace and John Allen.

Affaire A Suivre has drawn barrier 13 as she chases a fourth straight win.

The field and barrier draw for the 2023 Queensland Oaks is.
