Mahindra'smuch-awaitedEVXUV400ElectricwaslaunchedinJanuary,andthebookingsarestillgoingstrong.Consideringthesupply,thecompanyhadsetaninitialtargetofdelivering20,000unitswithinthefirstyearoflaunch,

ThewaitingperiodfortheXUV400hasbeennowextendedtosixmonths.Thecarmakerbegantodeliverthetop-endvariantbyMarch2023.Atthesametime,thedeliveriesofthebasevariantwillonlystartduringthefestiveseason.

Injustfourmonths,theEVhasreceivedmorethan23,000bookings,ofwhichthecarmakerhasalreadydelivered4,000.Thisachievementiscommendableasitdemonstratestheirdedicationtoservingtheircustomers.

TheXUV400Electricwillbemadeavailablewithtwobatterypacks-34.5kWhand39.4kWh-poweranelectricmotorfixedonthefrontaxle,producing150bhpand310Nmoftorque.

Mahindrahadclaimedarangeof375kmforthesmaller34.5kWhbatterypack,whereastheonewithabigger39.4kWhbatterypackhasarangeof456kmonasinglecharge.

Usinga50kWDCfastcharger,theXUV400canbechargedfrom0to80percentinjust50minutes.Mahindraalsoprovidestwostandardchargingoptions:a3.3kWACchargeranda7.2kWACcharger.

TheXUV400isavailableintwotrims-thebaseoptionECandthetop-endEL.TheECisofferedwiththe34.5kWhbatterypackwitheithera3.3kWor7.2kWACcharger.TheELtrim,ontheotherhand,getsthe39.5kWhbatterypackwitha7.2kWACcharger.

ThisSUViscurrentlypricedbetweenRs15.99lakhandRs18.99lakh(ex-showroom,Delhi).However,it'simportanttonotethatthesepricesareintroductoryandapplyonlyforthefirst5,000bookingsofeachvariant.

TheallnewMahindraXUV400Electrichasfeatureslikea7.0-inchinfotainmentsystemwithMahindra'sAdrenoXsoftware,asingle-panesunroof,andconnectedcartechnologywithovertheair(OTA)updates.

Otherfeaturesincludeaheight-adjustabledriverseat,rearwiperandwasherwithdemister,frontandreararmrestswithstorage,keylessentrywithpushbuttonstart,automaticheadlamp&wiper,smartwatchconnectivity,projectorheadlampswithDRL,etc.

Regardingsafety,XUV400retainsalmosteverythingfromitsICEsiblingXUV300.ThisEVtopsthesafetychartswitha5-starratingfromglobalNCAPandgetsuptosixairbags,discbrakesonallfourwheels,anIP67ratingforthebatterypack,andISOFIXanchorages.

Amassing23,000bookingsanddelivering4000carsinjustfivemonthsisindeedaremarkableachievement.XUV400ElectricbeingtheonlydirectcompetitoragainsttheTataNexonEV-currentfanfavourite,Mahindrawillhavetopullupthecardsunderthesleevestodothetrick.
